A good painting job requires many things but the two most important things are
prep work and quality paint. It is often necessary to clean or power wash a
surface before attempting to paint. Large areas are often sprayed but it is often
necessary to back roll or brush in the paint, in order to work the paint into the
surface.
When storing paint, be sure to protect the paint code marked on the outside of
the can. Storing paint in the smallest container possible (to minimize the air
space above) will help the paint to last longer.
Any place that siding or fascia are near shingles, these areas will need cleaning
or painting 2-3 times as often as the rest of the home.
Purdy brushes are more expensive but I have found them to be the best value.
The right Purdy brush lays the paint down smoothly and cuts corners well.
Purdy brushes also clean up well.
I have also been very pleased with the Purdy paint rollers because they don’t
lose as many fibers on the painted surface.
Surface preparation and good quality paint are the two most important factors in
a quality paint job.
Many painters get their brushes wet before using latex paints.
